How our kids martial arts programme helps shy children socialise and develop quiet confidence.
Kids today spend far too much time looking at screens instead of playing outdoors, which often leads to shyness and difficulty interacting with other children. Our youth Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes run every Monday and Thursday at 5:00 PM. We provide a physical environment where children can come out of their shells, socialise safely, and develop genuine self-belief.
Overcoming Shyness
We see many parents bringing in children who are naturally reserved. Walking into a martial arts academy for the first time is daunting for anyone, and our coaches understand this completely. We focus on integrating new students slowly, pairing them with supportive partners so they learn at their own pace without feeling overwhelmed.
Because Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu relies on grappling rather than striking, the classes are highly interactive. Children cannot train alone. They must communicate, take turns, and help each other practice techniques. This constant interaction is a brilliant way to build social skills and empathy.
Building Quiet Confidence
True confidence does not mean being loud or aggressive. It is about feeling secure in your own skin. As children learn new movements and realise what their bodies are capable of, you see a visible shift in their posture. They stand taller, make better eye contact, and become more resilient to everyday challenges.
Our youth classes run twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays from 17:00 to 18:00 inside Amigos Gym.
Our youth classes are tailored for boys and girls aged 5 to 15. We welcome complete beginners and ensure they are paired safely by size and experience level.
Absolutely. We have a dedicated spectator seating area where parents, friends, and family are welcome to sit, relax, and watch the classes.
For the first session, standard PE clothing such as a t-shirt and shorts or leggings is perfect. Please ensure there are no zips or pockets.
